3 week course:

SKY WATCHING
(AN INTRO TO ASTRO)

7.30pm - 9.30pm at Caroline of Brunswick near the Level

1. Learn themap of the heavens

Over the year there is a fixed parade of a dozen or so constellations passing overhead.
Some of them are familiar zodiac signs, others have names you may only recognise from Greek mythology.
You will be learning to recognise all of these constellations by sight

2. Every night you can see at least 2 or 3 planets

These are usually bright and easily visible.
Find out how to spot them and begin to follow their wanderings across the starscape.
To make sense of their movements we also look at the scale and movement of all the bodies that make up our solar system

3. The Moon always seems on the move

Zooming around the sky, sometimes Full, other times just a slither - and half the time it’s about during the day!!!
On this course you can make sense of the Moon’s motions and even bring its rhythms into your everyday life

4. So where are we in the Universe?

How do we travel through the Galaxy?
and what does our Galaxy get up to?
These and other cosmic questions will all be asked and answered

The course costs £25 (concessions available)
and each participant gets a free local astrolabe
